29/03/11 - Year 9 STEM Performance

All Year 9 pupils travelled to St. Paul's High School Bessbrook on Monday 28 March to view the performance 'It All STEMs From Here' by Theatre&. The event, which was funded by the SELB (including transport costs), was delivered to all schools within the Newry & Mourne Area Learning Community.

The performance followed the lives of 3 young friends and their experiences when they discovered the vast array of careers available to them through Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM). The presentation encouraged the pupils to think positively about their future and promoted life-long learning and skills development.

24/03/11 - Year 10 History Trip

20 pupils from Year 10 History had the privilege of attending a special lecture by Eva Clarke in the Arts Centre in Newry. The moving and personal story of Eva Clarke, the youngest survivor of the Holocaust, captivated the pupils as she recounted her family’s harrowing experience of World War Two. Eva was born at the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria on April 29, 1945, just three days before its liberation. She was too young to remember the Nazi persecution of the Jews, but she relays the horrors endured by her mother to educate future generations. Her personal and inspirational story brought the history to life that the pupils have been studying in class.

Rachel Walker from 10X is pictured with Eva Clarke, the Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council and four other pupils representing their schools.
