Thanks goes to PE Staff Mr J Black and Miss L Anderson for their work on the day.
28/05/13 - Year 11 Geography Students visit Killowen

Year 11 Geography Students visit Killowen to obtain Fluvial data of the Yellow Water River, to complete their GCSE CAT.

Eight GCSE geography students braved the cold and wet weather in Rostrevor to gather and record data from the Yellow Water River, in preparation for their controlled assessment task worth 25% of their overall GCSE. The students were guided by field instructor Vincent Mc Allinden from the Killowen Outdoor Educational Centre as well as their subject teacher, Mrs Flanagan. Everyone had a fun day exploring the characteristics and features of a river as they change downstream, and now the hard work will begin in the classroom interpreting the results!

The GCSE Art & Design Exhibition was a great success with a number of friends and family of the candidates coming to view the excellent and creative work.

Work was chosen belonging to Diane Watt, by the moderator, for the True Colours Exhibition to be held in the Ulster Museum for January 2014.
09/05/13 - Year 10 Remember The Holocaust

Since January our Year 10 pupils have been studying The Holocaust in their History lessons. In the autumn Year 10A planted yellow crocus bulbs as part of a project run by the Holocaust Education Trust.
The aim of the project is to remember the one and a half million Jewish children and thousands of other children who died in the Holocaust. The yellow flowers recall the yellow Star of David all Jews were forced to wear under Nazi rule. It is hoped that 10A's involvement in planting the bulbs and watching the flowers grow will encourage ongoing learning about the importance of tolerance and respect.
08/05/13 - NHS Pull Together For Victory

Congratulations to the Year 11 Boys' Tug of War team that won the annual Secondary Schools' Tug of War Championships at Craigavon Leisure Centre yesterday.

The Girls team also put in a battling display on the day but it was the boys that brought the cup back to Newtownhamilton following an impressive run of results.

Despite not being the biggest or heaviest team in the competition, our boys proved that success can be achieved for Newtownhamilton High when everyone pulls together.

07/05/13 - SRC School Partnership Awards 2012/13

Our Year 12 vocational pupils attended the annual Southern Regional College Awards Ceremony in the Canal Court Hotel on Friday 3 May.

01/05/13 - Football Minnows Win League Title

The Under 15 Football Team have been crowned the Mid-Ulster Schools' Football Association (MUSFA) Under 15 League Champions for the first time ever in history.

The title was secured following a 3-0 victory over Drumcree College on Tuesday 30 April. Early goals from Matthew Leyburn and Daryl Johnston helped to settle any nerves for Mr Black's team before Daryl added another goal in the closing stages of the match.

This success really is a massive achievement for the traditional footballing minnows of Newtownhamilton High. On route to league success, the team secured notable victories over much larger schools such as Craigavon Senior High, Lismore Comprehensive and Markethill High.

What a fantastic achievement and something that will live long in the memories of the winning squad of:

Jason Clarke, Matthew Giffin, Jeffrey Martin, Matthew Harrison, Gary Knight, Andrew Knight, William Honeyman, Neil Morton, Daryl Johnston, Matthew Leyburn, Nathan Dodds, Matthew Gibson, Aaron Dickson & Matthew Rowland.
