24/01/14 - Goodbye to Rev Jim Gordon
Newtownhamilton High is indebted to the 7 local ministers who address the school assembly on a weekly rota basis.
Reverend Jim Gordon (2nd Keady Presbyterian & Drumhillery Presbyterian) has been a faithful and popular visitor to Newtownhamilton High for many years and is well known for always bringing an interesting object from his attic that he uses effectively to share God's word.
Tuesday 21 January was a special occasion as Rev Gordon delivered assembly to the pupils from Newtownhamilton High for the last time as he prepares for his well deserved retirement in March.
Everyone at Newtownhamilton High wishes Rev Gordon a long and healthy retirement.

24/01/14 - NHS Welcome Pupils & Parents to Open Night
The staff and pupils of Newtownhamilton High School opened their doors to the Primary 6 & 7 pupils and parents from the surrounding area for Open Night on Thursday 23 January. An over expected large crowd received a warm welcome from Principal Garnet Mullan as he began the evening with a presentation in the assembly hall.
Mr Mullan spoke about our small but yet very successful country school and highlighted the success of both the academic record and the Vocational Enhancement Programme which is delivered every
Thursday in collaboration with Southern Regional College, St. Paul's High School Bessbrook and St. Joseph's High School Crossmaglen. A wide variety of clubs, societies, trips and programmes that are delivered by a committed and caring staff, were also identified as an important aspect of school life.
The Principal also referred to the recent heavy financial investment by the SELB in providing a new school canteen, which was officially opened by Chief Executive Gavin Boyd in November 2013. Mr Mullan then reflected on Mr Boyd's comments during this event when he pledged a secure future for the school providing there was continued community support. Many examples of this strong support were identified.
Guests were then treated to musical items from Key Stage 3 pupils Jorja West, Joel Ewart, Aaron Mitchell and Ruth Ferris before there was an opportunity to tour the school and view the facilities and many displays on show while also participating in activities within individual subject departments.
Food always proves to be popular at school events and Open Night was no exception as guests indulged on treats that had been provided by both the school canteen and pupils from the Home Economics department.
Prospective parents requiring further information on enrolment, transfer or transport issues should contact Principal Mr Mullan on 02830 878246. Click here to download a copy of the 2014/15 School Prospectus.
