15/02/19 - Prestigious trophy makes its way to Newtownhamilton
Year 8 pupils were treated yesterday to seeing the legendary Ulster Senior Cup, which was successfully retained by Armagh Rugby Club at the Kingspan Stadium last Friday night. Star scrum half and Development Coach Harry Doyle, who played a crucial role in the victory is also pictured along with PE teacher Miss Anderson. Newtownhamilton High and Armagh Rugby Club have enjoyed a successful partnership with each other over the years with many pupils playing for the youth teams and going on to represent senior teams also. Congratulations on a fantastic achievement!
15/02/19 – Vocational Enhancement Programme
Our Principal Mr Megaw visited SRC (Newry) yesterday to check on the progress of our vocational pupils and had his camera on hand to capture pupils happily at their work.
12/02/19 - Young Enterprise Trade Fair
Our Year 9 Quick Start pupils had a very successful day at Young Enterprise Trade Fair held in Rushmere on Friday 8 February. Our four groups have been planning their enterprise, allocating job roles, carrying out market research, sourcing products, promoting their business and finally selling their products to the public.
A huge congratulations to Crafty Masters who claimed the winning position followed by the runner up Parent’s Paradise. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our business partner, Aine Green from JMW Farms Ltd for all the support and guidance she has provided to our budding entrepreneurs as well as our supportive and encouraging teachers, Mrs Flanagan and Mrs Ferris.
08/02/19 - U16 Football Results
The U16 Football team played two games recently against Brownlow Integrated and Markethill respectively. In the first match the boys took a deserved 2-0 lead early on with goals from Steven King and Dylan McGurgan and really should have been more goals in front due to a strong first half performance. However, some lapses in concentration allowed Brownlow come back and eventually lead 3-2 in the second half. The boys pushed to get an equaliser but unfortunately it didn't materialise.
MOTM Dylan Whyte.
In the Second game against Markethill, again the boys started brightly and took an early lead through a cool Isaac Preston finish. That proved to be enough to win the game as the boys defended resolutely throughout the match to hold onto their clean sheet, learning valuable lessons from the previous game. MOTM Aaron McKee.
