27/04/18 - Year 9 Shared Education
The PSNI and REIM Training Solutions came together in Newtownhamilton High School yesterday to deliver workshops on very topical issues regarding staying safe online and who they can go to if they experience any problems or issues when online. The topics covered generic Internet Safety, grooming, the use of apps and the dangers of these, gaming and sexting. Pupils have certainly developed their knowledge and understanding of these areas and are more aware of the dangers of being online which will help to keep them safe in the future on their online activity. We want to express our thanks to both the PSNI, REIM training Solutions for their clear and sensitive portrayal of these issues and to all the staff who assisted with each of the workshops.
11/04/18 - Year 11 Work Experience
Year 11 pupils spent a week on Work Experience as part of the school CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice & Guidance) programme. Vice Principal & CEIAG Co-ordinator Mr Cousins stated “This year’s Work Experience was hampered by the weather but everyone still had a really enjoyable few days. All 29 pupils benefitted greatly from the knowledge, experience and support that was passed on by the employers. We are indebted to the local business owners who sacrificed their time to offer these invaluable experiences to the next generation”.
