27/05/11 - Year 8-11 Summer Exam Timetable 
 
The Year 8-11 Summer Exam Timetable is now available either by clicking here or through the link on the home page. The exams will start on Thursday 9 June and finish on Tuesday 14 June. 
 
25/05/11 - End of Term Arrangements 
 
Parents and pupils should note that there has been a change to the original end of term arrangements. Pupils will now finish for their summer holidays on Friday 24 June at 2.55pm.  
 
Teachers will be in school on Monday 27 June and Tuesday 28 June for staff development. 
13/05/11 - District Athletic Championships 
 
Newtownhamilton’s elite Athletes made the long journey to the Antrim Forum Athletics Arena on Thursday 5 May to compete in the District Championships. 
 
24 Athletes from Years 8-11 competed in a range of track and field events against some of the top schools in the country. The athletes performed to the best of their abilities and did their school proud. 
09/05/11 - Year 8 Annual Orienteering Festival 
 
Year 8 students participated in the ‘Annual Orienteering Festival’, held at the Palace Stables, Armagh on Thursday 5th May. Orienteering is a fun sport where competitors navigate their way between control points on a specially drawn map. The students competed with a number of other schools, and are now eagerly awaiting the results. 
 
Karolis Savinas won the overall Year 8 boys competition and Robert McBride was placed third. In the Year 8 girls category, Alexandra Smyth came second and Louise Knight was ranked third. 
 
An excellent day was had by all! 
06/05/11 - SRC Occupational Studies Awards 
 
Pupils from 12V attended the Southern Regional College School Partnership Awards Ceremony in the Canal Court Hotel, Newry on Thursday 5 May. The purpose of this event was to celebrate the success of all Occupational Studies students from Newry & Mourne Area Learning Community. 
 
Guest Speaker Mr Philip McCallan spoke about his experiences of obtaining qualifications and also reflected on his successful motorcycling career. 
 
Newtownhamilton High School enjoyed success with Kyle Silvey (Electrical Wiring) and Alannah Geary (Hairdressing) collecting awards in the ‘Best in Subject’ category. Daniel Hendren, Gareth Warnock and Alan McCombe also collected certificates for 100% attendance over the 2 year course while Alan also collected the ‘Best Boy’ award with Clare Kennedy achieving the prize for ‘Best Girl’. All prize winners are pictured with staff Mr N Megaw and Mr J Black. 
 
 
 
 
 
04/05/11 - Painting of Assembly Hall 
 
The school assembly hall was given a fresh coat of paint over the Easter holidays. This work follows the recent staining of the hall floor and also the painting of the school exterior. 
 
The school building may be old but it is certainly looking in good condition at present. 
04/05/11 - House Matches 
 
The new term opened today with the annual house matches in football and netball. Pupils got the opportunity to show off their skills while enjoying the sunny weather conditions. Fane proved victorious in the football while Dorsey were the winners of the netball tournament. 
 
Special mention must go to PE Staff Mr J Black and Mrs M Clarke for their contributions.
